Athletes who starred in Major League Baseball, the National Football Leadue, and the National Basketball Association; as well as coaches who have touched the lives of thousands of young athletes, make up the 25th class of the Mobile Sports Hall of Fame. The Class of 2013 will be inducted May 21st.
“The Hall now has more than 100 members, but the quality of the inductees remains amazingly high,” said MSHF President Peter Albrecht. “This year we have greats from four sports, from five different high schools, as well as the University of South Alabama. I think it’s a great class.”
The class includes former NFL running back Rickey Young and defensive back Hanford Dixon, former NBA player and current Golden State Warrior Assistant Coach Pete Myers, former All Star pitcher Jon Lieber, former Blount High School football coach Ben Harris, and former McGill-Toolen track and field coach Angelo Harris.
The Induction Ceremony and Banquet will take place Tuesday, May 21st at the Battle House Hotel. Tickets are $100, with a portion of each ticket price going to the construction of a permanent Hall of Fame in the lobby of the RSA Tower in downtown Mobile.
“$25 of every ticket will be a tax deductible donation,” said MSHF Chairman Joe Gottfried. So not only can you enjoy a great evening, but you can also contribute to a great project for Mobile.”
Tickets can be purchased via PayPal at mobilesportshalloffame.com or by calling (251)709-0310.
